Campus Webmaster - Job Expectations

Goal:

The Campus Webmaster (CW) shall, under the joint supervision of the Campus Principals and the Director of Technology, ensure that campus web sites are carefully and appropriately updated to reflect campus activities. The majority of the Campus Webmaster’s time will be spent collecting information for sharing on their campus or department web site, then posting or updating the web site at least once a month or more if necessary.

Stipend: $500 per year

  • Each webmaster will be provided an updated laptop to keep for both webmaster and classroom duties. This laptop should not take the place of a campus issued laptop.
  • Each webmaster will have direct access to a campus owned camera that takes web quality photos.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree with a valid Texas Teaching Certificate.
  2. Understand technical computer terminology.
  3. Knowledge of basic personal computer operation.
  4. Intermediate or higher-level user of the Internet.
  5. Demonstrated organizational skills.
  6. Knowledge in computer software packages to include, but not be limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics and other software necessary for the mission of the campus.
  7. Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  8. Ability to follow oral and written instructions in a structured environment.
  9. Ability to perform assigned duties and responsibilities with limited supervision.
  10. Ability to work with others and maintain an effective working relationship with coworkers, supervisors, school personnel, and the public.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Meet with campus/department administrative staff--and, as appropriate, classroom teachers--to determine web site needs and take appropriate action.
  2. Keep web site information current or up to date.
  3. Write and edit content for posting.
  4. Modify and insert images, videos, and podcasts.
  5. Maintain web site resources and documentation.
  6. Adhere to the Web Publishing Policy.
  7. Serve as the primary contact for web site related business on their respective campus/department web.
  8. Participate in district-facilitated professional learning opportunities on how to develop campus/department-marketing materials, such as the following: promotional videos, podcasts, campus newsletters, and brochures.
  9. Attend training sessions on how to effectively maintain a campus/department web site that provides both timely and valuable information for your users.
  10. Meet with District Instructional Technology Specialists periodically for the purpose of reviewing progress.
  11. Be responsible for required record keeping and preparation of reports and documents required by the Department of Technology.
  12. Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule--including after-hours--to meet the web site development needs of the campus or department.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
