Endocarditis & Tick Borne Diseases

Endocarditis is an infection of the inner lining of your heart (endocardium). It generally occurs when bacteria from another part of your body spreads through your bloodstream and attaches to areas in your heart.

Untreated or improperly treated, endocarditis can damage or destroy your heart valves and can lead to life-threatening complications. Treatment for endocarditis includes antibiotics and in some cases surgery.
