The above sheet was prepared by the writer for a new display on the Portland Windmills at Portland Museum in May 2015

These are conjectural drawings of the North windmill based on the known dimensions of the stone tower, windshaft and sail stock


"Front"elevation (ie front side of the sails)

"Rear" elevation with braced tailpole arrangement used to manually wind (or turn) the cap of the mill

Scale model made by my son Simon Crumbleholme (aged 14 years in 1992). The 3D sketch above is taken from this. From February 2015, this model has been loaned to Portland Museum.
