Notes and comments

A possible site, although no reference source[1] is given by M J Way who suggested that a windmill once stood on the site of the present Oldfield House to the west side of the town. This was formerly the site of King John's Hunting Lodge at Godlingstone.

There are certainly two windmills known to have existed in nearby Langton Matravers and the topography of the whole peninsula would have made the wind an important power source for milling.
