FULL LEVEL 1 INSTRUCTOR COURSE

(Or do the course without the Instructor Component for 2/3 price and do the Level One - Responder Level)

This course will teach the DIMERSAR Academy Emergency Response and Search and Rescue Courses, Modules One and Two. Content taken directly from our SAR SCHOOL Curriculum. The course is about 50/50 academic and practical and is the entry level SAR Certification Course..

INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY: This course and its components has been taught all over the world, from 350 professional SAR delegates in Washington DC, USA (2007) at the International SAR Conference in Tyson’s Corner to 30 local SAR Responders in a small meeting room on the Mountains of North West Pakistan (2008) and from 250 Global Leaders in Abu Dhabi 2009 at the International Disaster Management and Crisis Response Middle East to Ontario Canada 2008 (16 Canadian Police Officers) at The Toronto Police CO Bick College in a Training Facility.

This is a 3 (full) Day Intensive SAR (Search & Rescue) Instructor Training at a third the regular price. This is part of an optional further training programme in Canada which includes HUSAR (Heavy Urban Search And Rescue), Wilderness Search and Rescue, Flood and Swiftwater Rescue, High Angle Rope Rescue and GSAR.

BASIC FITNESS IS REQUIRED.

Canditates doing FULL Level 2 have to do a timed walk to an incident exercise which most people can do but is a part of the practical exercise. If injury or fitness prevents this being succesfully completed please discuss first.

* Passing is not guaranteed but expected. Those who cannot successfully complete the essential requirements will get a retest opportunity with remedial support. If that is again not passed a Certificate at the next level down may be Awarded.

COLOUR CERTIFICATEUpon Successful Completion candidates will receive a Numbered Teaching Colour Certificate and Lesson Requirements. If Attendees do not have the suitable background or wish to, they can do the the appropriate 'Practitioner' version - which is the SAR Responder.

ACCREDITATION

This course is provided by DIMERSAR Academy, an International Training Academy based in the UK that specialises in Rescues, Emergencies and Disasters. The Academy is recognised and Accredited by several Awarding bodies. Certificates will also have the logos of the National Accreditation Body, The NCFE (UK), and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM - A City and Guilds Organisation) and the College of Teachers.

CERTIFICATION

Lasts for 2 years for Instructors and 3 years for Practitioners.

INSTRUCTOR

Your Instructor is Gary Foo who is an International Disaster Risk Reduction Advisor and Commander of a Search and Rescue Team and qualified Specialist and Tech. Rescue Instructor in several Disciplines. He is a Disaster Paramedic, a former Armed Police Officer, a Tactical Trainer and Consultant to many NGOs, Government Agencies and Private Organisations. He is a United Nations Coordinator and has led several SAR Missions for International Disasters (i.e, Tsunami in Sri Lanka, Haiti, Pakistan, etc.) and rescue missions for Missing Persons. He is a Fellow of the College of Teachers and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management and lecturer at Universities.

PROGRESSION

Candidates can go on to teach this material in their paid or volunteer positions for free or for remuneration / pay.

Candidates may find this course helps them in their jobs, for promotion or applications for work.

This course allows progression to the next Practitioner or Instructor Level Course.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS

CLOTHING / UNIFORMS

Wear suitable clothing for inside and outdoors activities. Much of this will be outdoors.

(Instructor shirts and uniforms may be available provided after the course.)

A very basic kit list will be required. All essential items to run the course are provided.

ACCOMMODATION

Local accommodation is not provided however, may be sourced at a reasonable rate in non-commercial setting.

DURATION & LENGTH OF DAY

There is a lot of material and the course is an intensive one. Expect to go later than "9 to 5" and one day has a Dark Environment component in it requiring a dark / night-time exercise.

OTHER TRAINING

There is also an opportunity to do Flood and Swift water Rescue Certification and High Angle Rope Rescue during the first two weeks of November. This training is a DIMERSAR Academy rated and an NFPA Complaint course.
