Our Disaster Responder Training in NWFP, Pakistan.

Does what we coordinate get translated on the ground?

This picture tells a very useful story... we cover this in the course...

Casualty safely on the ground.

To be effective and coordination must take into consideration local resources and DRR / Response Mechanism on the ground. Disaster Risk Reduction must be sustainable.

When training local rescuers it is important to identify the resources that they already use and have access to and not necessarily try to change everything the way that you thing it 'should' work if coming as an outsider. (Not only will you improve the sustainability of the work but also learn things yourselves, during the process.)

The key, however, about the main focus of the International Disaster Response Coordinator is to be able to safely and effectively deploy Disaster Responders.

Whether that includes the 'Coordinator' deploying or not... and in a useful way ensuring that the key standards and guidelines are not only adhered to but that useful tips and tricks can be used!
