Night / Low Light SAR Course

Night & Low Light SAR Course

Specialist Night / Low LightSearch Technician Certification

INTRODUCTION

The Emergency Services (like Police, Fire & Ambulance) and Search and Rescue Teams as well as other responders like the Military or Air Crews respond to calls year round at all times of the day or night.

Also Night and low light searching and response brings about certain challenges and hazards as well as potentially limiting factors to the front line operator.

This is a One Day (Night / Low Light) Specialist Certification course designed to prepare the front line operator with the necessary information, knowledge of equipment and practical skills to increase their ability to operate in darkness or low light levels.

This specialist training further enhances an operators ability to see and work in an environment that could be hazardous and requires effective response and coordination.

TOPICS COVERED:

This one day certification course teaches

  • The need for night and low light training

  • Basic essentials for the front line operator inc. PPE & Clothing

  • Techniques used in other studies (from the animal world to the military)

  • How to use technology and equipment (like Night Vision and Thermal Imaging)

NIGHT VISION GOGGLES & THERMAL IMAGING

NB: Although P/NVGs (Passive / Night Vision Googles) and Thermal Imaging, red lensed lights, etc amongst other kit, are used and practised it is not mandatory that course attendees have their own. However a good standard LED torch is essential. A course kit list will be sent out. For obvious reasons, the practical aspects of this course are taught in low light / Night environments.

Additional course items

BACKGROUND:

Over the years we researched a lot of low light operations, movement, survival, shooting and tactical manoeuvres with information garnered from the Police, Military and University Studies. From that we condensed this and developed the Specialist Night Searching Technician Certification.

This course is offered for any emergency services or search and rescue operator. It is a Low Light / Night Specific Course but in different environments and under different conditions. From the "Runaway" who does not want to be found to the injured casualty lying in a rubble pile to the 'non-responsive victim' in the wilderness and even searches on the waterways at night. This course is also very useful for general night operations.
