Medical Gases Certification Course

This Saturday 7th May 2011 the DIMERSAR Academy delivered a great Medical Gases course (this past week-end) with candidates either renewing or certifiying in the use of Oxygen and Entonox (gas and air). The course was invaluable in the treatment of casualties in emergency situations and included a lot information and practicals, (inlcuding the new guidelines and updates from the British Thoracic Society), Health and Safety Executive and JRCALC (Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee).

The last hour of training was spent on the administration of Adrenaline in emergencies following severe anaphalxis.
Adrenaline is a Prescription Only Medication (POM), however during life threatening emergencies Adrenaline can be given by a lay rescuer as per Schedule 7 of The Prescription Only Medicines (Human Use) Order 1997 (SI1997/1830) and it's admendments. Also please refer to bottom of the page. HSE.
