Disaster Response

DISASTER RESPONSE TRAINING is a resource for Disaster Managers, Professional Rescuers, Humanitarians, Emergency Responders, and anyone interested in the Emergency Response phase of the Disaster Management cycle. However, by definition in preparedness and resilience, there are also resources in the other aspects of the Disaster Management Cycle.

The RESPONSE PHASE requires a swift and appropriate reaction.

Disaster and Emergency Response is what you do or should need to do, right after the occurrence of a Disaster, Emergency or Major Incident. It may last hours, days or even weeks and relates to the need to establish rescue and relief mechanisms related to the survival of the affected person/s or population.

The typical disciplines and responding agencies, would include:

    • Search and Rescue

    • Emergency Medical Services

    • Police

    • Fire and Rescue

    • Military

    • Humanitarians

    • Disaster Managers

    • Researchers

    • Assessors

    • Coordinators

There may be other needed survival and humanitarian services as well as some less obvious ones. They may have interrelated subjects which could prove essential such as disaster mapping, field survival and coordination skills.
