Research Notes:

  • A. Kyuemon is listed as single on the Passenger List10a when he arrives in Canada in 1911. Unless he returned to Japan in a trip before February 1921; Kyuemon & Kohide got married between February 1921 when he arrived in Japan and July 1921 when they departed Japan.
  • B. "Iron Springs is a hamlet in southern Alberta, Canada within the County of Lethbridge. It is located on Highway 25, approximately 28 kilometres (17 mi) northeast of Lethbridge."15 But it is hard to find any information at all about Japanese Canadians being evacuated to Iron Springs. This one picture is about it: http://digitalcollections.library.ubc.ca/cdm/singleitem/collection/jphotos/id/290/rec/27
