Belanger Branch

Introduction

It is said that "if you are a Bélanger and live in North America the chances are about 99% that you descend from one of two progenitors of the name. That being Francois or Nicolas."2 Nicolas is my 8th Great Grandfather; to learn more about Nicolas I recommend visiting: http://www.belangers.us/E.Nicolas.htm. Research Notes

A. http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/METISGEN/2010-04/1272145196 lists Violet as "Violet Jean McKay [1916-2009]" but no source information is provided; I was able to find the obituary for her sister-in-law Daisy McKay which was published in the Prince Albert Daily Herald on April 24, 2010 which says Daisy was predeceased by her sister-in-law Violet Belanger. This record can be found at: http://www.inmemoriam.ca/view-announcement-194220-daisy-mckay.html

B. The Plamondon History Book8 page 413 says that "Ovila died in Calgary at age 53. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in the Soldier's Plot." My research indicated that he was actually buried at Queens Park Cemetery, which I confirmed with a visit7. So the question remains is there something of interest at St. Mary's?
