Plamondon Branch

Introduction

Plamondon is a hamlet in in the province of Alberta, it is about 25 kilometres from my childhood home of Grassland. Joseph Plamondon aka le Père Joe, my Great Great Great Grand Uncle, is recognized as the founder of Plamondon.01 Joseph's father Narsisce Plamondon, my Great Great Great Great Grandfather will be my starting point for the Plamondon Branch.

Narsisce Plamondon & Elisabeth Blondeau - My Great Great Great Great Grandparents

Narsisce Plamondon (sometimes spelled Narcisse) was born on August 6, 182102a to Louis Plamondon and Archange Langlois, he was baptised at Hôpital Général de Québec.129

Elisabeth Blondeau was born in August 182203a to Francois-Xavier Blondeau and Angelique LangloisX2.

Narsisce & Elisabeth were married on April 13.184704. They had 9 children.

Narcise (age 40) and Eliza (age 39) and their family: Séméns (age 13), Angélique (age 12), Madorie (age 11), Thomas (age 8), Marie (age 7), Alex (age 4), and Benoéb (age 1) were enumerated in the 1861 Quebec Census at Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec.120

In 1868 the family immigrated from Quebec to Michigan.105,111

Narcisse (age 50 - Farmer) & Elizabeth (age 50) Plamondon and their family: Simeon (age 22 - Laborer), Nazareth (age 20 - Laborer), Thomas (age 16), Mary (age 15), Alexander (age 12), Benona (age 10), Joseph (age 8) and Vangelis (age 6) were enumerated in the 1870 Census at Centerville, Leelanau, Michigan. The value of their personal estate is listed as $330.05

Elisabeth died on May 10, 1874 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA.03b

On March 30, 1880 a homestead certificate was awarded to Narcisse Plamondon "for the east fractional half of the north east fractional quarter of section three in township twenty-nine north of the range twelve west in the district of lands formerly subject to sale at Traverse City now Reed City Michigan, containing one hundred and eleven acres and thirty-nine hundredths of an acre."142

Narciss Plumondon (age 59 - Farmer, Widower) and his family: Thomas (age 26), Alexander (age 23), Benoit (age 21), Joseph (age 18), Evangelist (age 16), and Mary (age 25) were enumerated in the 1880 Census at Centreville, Leelanau, Michigan.06 Narcises Plumondon's farm is also listed in Schedule 2 - Productions of Agriculture.141

Narsisce died on June 21, 1892 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA.02b

Louis Simeon Plamondon (1848-1893) My Great Great Great Grandfather

Louis Simeon Plamondon was born on April 24, 1848 in Quebec. He was baptized at St-Ferdinand d'Halifax.07

Séméns was enumerated in the 1861 Quebec Census at Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec.120c

Simeon was enumerated in the 1870 Census at Centerville, Leelanau, Michigan as a Laborer on his father's farm.05

Simeon married Marguerite Chouinard on ???Y1; Margurite was born May 4, 1853X3 to Alexis Chouinard11 and Margurite SeenechalX4. They had 14 children.

On March 30, 1880 a homestead certificate was awarded to Simeon Plamondon "for the south-east quarter of the south east quarter of section twenty-four in township thirty north of the range twelve west and the south-west fractional quarter of the south-west fractional quarter and the east half of the south-west fractional quarter of section nineteen in township thirty north of range eleven west in the district of lands formerly subject to sale at Traverse City now Reed City Michigan, containing one hundred and forty-four acres and sixty-eight hundredths of an acre."144

Simeon Plumondon (age 32 - Farmer) and his family: Margurite (age 29), Narcisse (age 6), Pauline (age 4), Mary (age 2), Alexander (age 1) and Godsgiven (age 1 month) were enumerated in the 1880 US Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan.08

Simon died January 21, 189371 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA and shares a marker with his son Alex Plamondon.09,10

Margret Plamondon (age 43 - Widow) and her family: Nelson (age 20), Pollon (age 17), Mary (age 16), Elexander (age 15), Raymond (age 12), Malinda (age 9), August (age 8), Odelia (age 5), Domatal (age 4), and Henry (age 3) were enumerated in the 1894 Michigan State Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.56

Maggie Plamondo (age 49 - Widow) and her family: Alexander (age 21), Raymond (age 19), Melinda (age 15), August (age 14), Odela (age 13), Matilda (age 12), and Henry (age 9) were enumerated in the 1900 US Census at Leland township, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.83

Marguerite married Amedee aka Media Richard on November 19, 1900.11

Marguerite (age 61) and Amedee (age 64) cross the border in March of 1910 their destination was Plamondonville, Alberta; Eugenie (age 30), Wm (age 7) and Rachel (age 5) were also with them.150

Marguerite died in 191512, 151 and is buried in St. Isidore Catholic Cemetery, Plamondon, Alberta, Canada.151

Amedee Richard is listed in the 1916 Census as a widow living in Plamondon, Alberta, Canada.152

Amedee Richard is listed in the 1920 US Census as a widow living in Leelanau, Michigan with his son Arsen.152

Angélique Plamondon (1849-1894) My Great Great Great Grandmother

Angelique Plamondon was born in May 11, 1849.14a

Angélique was enumerated in the 1861 Quebec Census at Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec.120d

Angelique married Olivier St. Jean on February 18, 1868 in Leelanau, Michigan13a,16,149; Olivier was born in Nov 184219,21 in Montreal, Quebec13b to Antoine St. Jean and Ameila. They had 13 children.

Angeline (age 20) & Oliver (age 24 - Farmer) St Johns and their family: Joseph (age 1) and Unnamed (age 2/12) were enumerated in the 1870 Census at Bingham, Leelanau, Michigan; Oliver's parents Antoino and Amelila St Johns are also listed on the same page.17

Angeline (age 30) & Oliver (age 36 - Farmer) St John and their family: Joseph (age 11), Mary (age 7), Pauline (age 6), Amelia (age 4), Antonie (age 2), Melinda (age 8/12 born Jan), and Antoine (age 74 - Father of Oliver, Widowed) were enumerated in the 1880 US Census at Bingham, Leelanau, Michigan.18

Angeline (age 45) & Oliver (age 51) St John and their family: Emily (age 16), Antonie (age 15), Melinda (age 14), Nelson (age 12), Evangelish (age 10), Oliver (age 8) and Willie (age 1) were enumerated in the 1894 Michigan State Census at Suttons Bay, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.45

Angeline St. John died of puerperal fever on November 14, 1894 (age 45 years, 6 months, and 3 days) in Suttons Bay Township, Leelanau County, Michigan.14b,15

An obituary for Mrs Oliver St John was published in the Leelanau Enterprise on November 22, 1894.157

Olivier married Elmire Gagon on February 17, 189713c,46; who was born in October 1869.21

Oliver St John (born Nov 1842 - age 57 - Farmer) and his family: Almira (born Oct 1869 - age 30; had 3 kids - 2 living), Nelson (born Nov 1881- age 18), Evangilist (born June 1884 - age 15), Levi (born Nov 1885 - age 14), Matilda (born Mar 1886 - age 14), William (born May 1892 - age 7), Clara (born Jan 1898 - age 1) and Earnest (born May 1900 - age 0) were enumerated in the 1900 US Census at Suttons Bay township Suttons Bay village, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.21

Olivier St Jean (age 72 - Farmer) and his family: Elmire (age 47 - Wife), Ernest (age 16), John (age 15) and Wilfred (age 8) were enumerated in the 1916 Canada Census at 68, 17, W4m.22

Olivier died January 3, 192013d and is buried in Plamondon. His headstone lists his 2nd wife Elmire but says she is buried in Edmonton; she died in 1928.20

Children of Angélique Plamondon & Olivier St. Jean

*A - I believe Pauline was given then name Eliza at birth. My belief is based on the these facts: 1) in the 1900 Census Pauline's birth is listed as March 187543; 2) there is no birth records for a Pauline that I can find; and 3) the only birth record for a child born to Olivier & Angelique in March of 1875 is for Eliza born March 24, 1875.47

*B - Matilda is Elmire's daughter from her 1st marriage. Matilda is not listed with with the family in the 1894 Michigan State Census;45 but is listed in the 1900 US Census21 after Olivier married Elmire. On Evangeliste's marriage record to Mathilda Coutourier it her parents as Joseph Coutourier & Elmire Gagnon.53 Joseph Couturier & Elmire Gagnon were married on February 17, 1886 in Provement, Leelanau, Michigan.55 Joseph died in 1894.X7

Nazair Plamondon (1850-1921)

Nazair Plamondon was born on August 1, 1850.92a

Madorie was enumerated in the 1861 Quebec Census at Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec.120e

Nazareth was enumerated in the 1870 Census at Centerville, Leelanau, Michigan as a Laborer on his father's farm.05

Nazaire married Mary (Priscilla) Harp on January 31, 1876.104

On March 30, 1880 a homestead certificate was awarded to Nazere Plamondon "for the west fractional half of the north east fractional quarter of section three in township twenty-nine north of the range twelve west in the district of lands formerly subject to sale at Traverse City now Reed City Michigan, containing one hundred and ten acres and fifty-six hundredths of an acre."143

Narciss (age 29) and Perricle (age 21) Plumondon and their family: Joseph (age 3) and Loui (age 1) enumerated in the 1880 US Census at Centreville, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.106

Nazere (age 44) & Persilla (age 34) Plamonfon and their family: Maxim (age 18), Louis (age 15), Mary (13), Delphine (age 12), Napolan (age 10), Ferdenand (age 8), Selena (age 6), Noe (age 5), William (age 4), Lizem (age 2) and Narcie (age 9/12) were enumerated in the 1894 Michigan State Census at Leelanau.107

Nazair (born Aug 1850) & Parasile (born Apr 1860 - Mother of 13 children - 11 living) Plamondon and their family: Louis J (born Feb 1879), Delphine (born Apr 1882), Napoleon (born Mar 1884), Ferdinand (born Sep 1885), Celina (born May 1887), Noah J (born Dec 1888), William (born Feb 1891), Liseme (born Feb 1892), and Leo (born Apr 1898) were enumerated in the 1900 US Census at Leland township, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.105

Nazair (age 59) and Precilley (age 49) Plamondon were enumerated in the 1910 US Census at Centerville, Leelanau, Michigan in the household of their son Louis (age 31).139

Nazar (age 69) and Pricilla (age 59) Plamondon were enumerated in the 1920 US Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan.140

Nazair Plamondon died December 1, 192192b,93 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA93.

Thomas Plamondon (1854-1929)

Thomas was born January 26, 1854 in Quebec.108

Thomas was enumerated in the 1861 Quebec Census at Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec.120f

Thomas was enumerated in the 1870 & 1880 Censuses with his parents.05,06

Thomas married Rosina Desnoyers on March 21, 1882 and they had 14 children.108

Thomas (age 40) & Rosene (age 28) Plamondon and their family: Polscarp (age 10), Roman (age 9), Peter (age 8), Joseph (age 5), Mede (age 4), Ovela (age 2) and John (age 11/12) were enumerated in the 1894 Michigan State Census at Leelanau.110

Thomas P (age 46) and Rosina (age 34) and their family: Polycarp J (age 17), Hannah (adopted daughter - age 15), Peter J (age 14), Joseph E (age 12), Meda J (age 10), Ovila J (age 9), John J (age 7), Sophia M (age 5), Delina A (age 4), Simon J (age 2) and Catherine M (age 0) were enumerated in the 1900 US Census at Centerville township, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.111

Thomas (age 56) and Rosenia (age 45) Plamondon and their family: Ovalie (age 18), John (age 16), Sophia (age 15), Delina (age 13), Simon (age 12), Mary (age 10), Theodore (age 9), and Lydia (age 5) were enumerated in the 1910 US Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan, United States .112

Thomas (age 65) and Rosina (age 54) Plamondon and their family: Simon (age 21), Theodore (age 16), and Lydia (age 15) were enumerated in the 1920 US Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan, United States .113

Thomas and his family moved to Plamondon in 1923.108

Thomas died March 12, 1929108; and is buried in St. Isidore Catholic Cemetery, Plamondon, Alberta, Canada.154

Mary (Marie) was born in about 1855.

Alexander Plamondon (1858-1910)

Alexander was born December 25, 1858.114,115

Alex was enumerated in the 1861 Quebec Census at Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec.120h

Alexander was enumerated in the 1870 & 1880 Censuses with his parents.05,06

Alexander married Mary Grant. They had 3 children. Mary died March 7, 1891 and she is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA..117,118

Alexander married Ezilda Senecharl on November 15, 1892.116

Alexander & Zilda Plamondon and Alex's daughters: Mary (age 9), Maggie (age 7) and Ellen (age 5) were enumerated in the 1894 Michigan State Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.121

Alex (age 53) & Zilda (age 42) Plamondon were enumerated in the 1910 US Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.119

Alexander died August 1, 1910 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA.114,115

Benoit Plamondon (1860-1895)

Benoit was born March 24, 1860.X9

Benoéb was enumerated in the 1861 Quebec Census at Arthabaska, Arthabaska, Quebec.120i

Benoit was enumerated in the 1870 & 1880 Censuses with his parents.05,06

Benoit married Elmira Couturier on November 13, 1882.X10

Bennet died May 6 or 7, 1895123,148 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Lake Leelanau, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA.122

Joseph married Mathilda Gauthier daughter of Adolphis Gauthier and Elizabeth Dreault on June 11, 1884.126

Joseph (age 32) and Matilda (age 24) Plomondon and their family: Isadore (age 6), Isabelle (age 4), Ernest (age 2) and Vlara Belle (age 4/12) were enumerated in the 1894 Michigan State Census at Leland, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.124

Joseph (age 38) and Matilda (age 30) Plamondo and their family: Isadore (age 12), Isabell (age 10), Ernie (age 8), Clarabell (age 6), Edward (age 4) Della (age 2) and Fredrick (age 8/12) were enumerated in the 1900 US Census at Leland township, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.130

Joseph (age 48) and Matilda (age 39) Plomondon and their family: Ernest (age 19), Clarabel (age 17), Edward (age 16), Dallamen (age 13), Frederic (age 11), Delaine (age 7), Clifton (age 5), Emila (age 2) and Almer (age 1) were enumerated in the 1911 Census of Canada in what came to be known as Plamondon, Alberta.132

Joseph (age 55) and Matilda (age 45) Plamondon and their family: Frederick (age 17), Valmore (age 12), Clifton (age 10), Emile (age 8), Heloise (age 6) and Albert (age 4) were enumerated in the 1916 Census of Canada in what came to be known as Plamondon, Alberta.133

Joseph (age 59) and Matilda (age 51) Plamondon and their family: Valmore (age 18), Clifton (age 15), Emile (age 12), Albert (age 9), Joseph (age 4) and Alphine (age 11) were enumerated in the 1921 Census of Canada in Plamondon, Alberta.125

Joseph died July 4, 1923.126

Jean Evangeliste Plamondon (1864-1935)

Jean Evangeleliste was born January 21, 1864,127 and baptized at St Norbert.134

Evangeleliste was enumerated in the 1870 & 1880 Censuses with his parents.05,06

Evangeleliste married Demerise (Marie) Harpe on June 11, 1884.109,127

Evangelist (age 36) and Demries (age 30) Plamondon and their family: Philipp (age 15), Michell (age 13), William (age 11), Delvina (age 9), Batiste (age 7), Delina (age 5), and Benjamin (age 1) were enumerated in the 1900 US Census at Centerville, Leelanau, Michigan, United States.135

Evangelish (age 52) and Demerise (age 36) and their family: Michel (age 29), Benoit (age 18), Ervine (age 13), Dominic (age 9) and (Doria (age 7) were enumerated in the 1916 Census of Canada in what came to be known as Plamondon, Alberta.136

Demerise died June 5, 1921.127

Evangeleliste married Priscille Harpe about 1923Y09,*C, his brother Nazair's widow.127

*C - Evan went back to Michigan in 1922137 when we returned to Canada in 1923 he lists his wife as Priscilla.138

Jean Evangeleliste was died November 27, 1935.127
