Murray Clan

I have always been told that my Fleming Family is part of the Murray Clan so I am going to try to explore that link.

A quick internet search shows Fleming Family as a septA or allied family of the Murray Clan.1

But, "In theory the word clan should apply only to the family of the chief and the branches which would prove descent from him; the word has, however, been extended to embrace all those who acknowledged the authority of a chief and accepted his protection."6

Yet "association with the Murrays of Atholl applies only to the few Fleming families who inhabited Atholl and Glenshee."2,

How can I prove that my Fleming Family inhabited Atholl and Glenshee?B I have to assume that requires exploring my line of Fleming Ancestors; I will do that by starting with my Great Grandfather George Fleming who was born August 11, 1904 in Scotland; for more details on George, his father James, and his grandfather John see the Fleming Branch.

Okay so I do not know where to go from here... Can anyone help?
