From Dreams and Determination - A History of Grassland and Districts (page 124): "In 1956 a piece of land was donated by Rene Boulanger half a mile east of Atmore on Highway 55 to be used as a cemetery. Evergreen trees were planted around the sides. In 1959 a grotto was built as a shrine for the Virgin Mary. This was erected under the guidance of Father Noel, parish priest at the time. The beautiful stone work was done by two mason workers from the district, Henri Porodo and Rene Legall. Large rocks were hauled in for the work."
