Tycobrahe Octavia

The most notable Roger Mayer Octavia inspired pedal is the outright copy called the Tycobrahe Octavia. One of Roger's units was given to the Tycobrahe sound reinforcement copy for repair. While it was there, they copied the circuit. Tycobrahe employees recall the artist being Jeff Back. Roger maintains that the 9V operated Tycobrahe Octavia was a copy of a 24V Roger Mayer Octavia. There is much debate as to whether or not this is true or whether it really matters, but the Tycobrahe developed its own following due to it being the only "Octavia" you could buy before Roger released his commercial version circa 1980 in his signature "rocket" enclosure.

Tycobrahe was mainly a sound reinforcement company that provided sound systems for the emerging music festival business in the late 1960s and 1970s. (The company was formed in either 1968 or 1969.) The company never focused on effects, so you won't find many of the effects out there.

Besides the Octavia, they made a pedal controlled flanger (PedalFlanger; MN3001 based, includes a nose gate like the CE-1), a State Variable Filter based wah (ParaPedal; "para" is probably a nod to the SVF's use in parametric EQs) and a very rare delay device that was probably meant to go with their PA equipment (Analog Delay Line; MN3001 based). I have seen one or two power amplifiers surface as well. The company seemed to always paint everything in the same blue color.
