Ring Modulator Fuzz?

Above is a simplified schematic of the Ampeg Scrambler's fuzz circuit according to an original factory schematic that is floating around on the internet. The actual unit includes an input buffer, a clean path, and a second control labelled "BLEND" which combines the two signals. The first diode and the far right two diodes may not actually be present on original Scramblers according to the factory schematic.

Some practical breadboard tests are in order, but for now I have just simulated this and the full ring schematic does not appear to make a good octave up fuzz.

Above is the more likely real Scrambler circuit. This does produce octave up fuzz in simulation. Of course, we no longer have a diode ring, so the ring modulator label need not apply anymore.
