Roger Mayer Page 1

There are no schematics of the original 1964 units, but I have seen a traced schematic of the Mayer's "Page 1" pedal, a recreation of the early unit.

The traced schematic shows a 3V power supply for the 2 transistor fuzz section (not a 2TEF, btw), and interesting variable dc bias for both stages via the drive control. There are no decoupling capacitors in the variable bias circuit, so ac feedback may be happening as well; hard for me to say. I'll have to try it on the breadboard one day.

The Page 1 has some similarities to the FZ-1 (3V power supply, pnp germanium transistors, drive/attack controls adjust dc bias conditions) but the circuits are entirely different and I would believe it if Mayer never saw the insides of a FZ-1 at the time, as he has claimed. This appears to be its own unique topology of fuzz.
