Test Equipment

Here's a picture of my main test equipment as of February 2015.

Peterson VS-1 Virtual Strobe Tuner

Light bulb sockets for the Light Bulb Limiter.

Elenco Resistor Substitution Box is just peeking out, an Elenco Capacitance Substitution Box hangs below this (not shown)

Owon PDS6062S Dual Ch. Digital Storage Oscilloscope

My "Bench Box." This is a multipurpose preamp and signal router.

My mixer and small stereo power amp (Velleman kit, actually) for monitoring

My "Speaker Box." Power amp outputs go here. Sometimes I use a portable version.

Tube Works MosValve 500. This is my tester power amp for any speakers that need to be tested. I modded this so there is a speaker output jack on the front now.

Light bulb limiter. The lamp is for limiting the current on things are blowing fuses, or sometimes I use it as just a lamp.

Keithley 2015 THD Multimeter. Really nice multimeter with sine wave output in the rear and THD measurement. I use this sine wave as my standard signal source.

Wavetek Model 184 Sweep Generator. Really nice function generator with sweep. I have the sweep output patched to the scope's EXT TRIG input so I can sync the two and get a nice visual of a circuit's frequency response. (In spring 2015, I upgraded this to a Model 185. The 185 has a wider and easier to set up sweep. The 184 is now an auxiliary item.)

Handheld DMMs. Can't have enough of these. Amprobe 37XR-A on the left, and a Fluke 115 on the right. The Amprobe has an inductance test which is occasionally handy, and the Fluke has an excellent capacitance test. Both can also handle much higher current tests than the Keithley can.

BK Precision 1672 Triple Output Power Supply. I usually have the right output setup with a 2.1mm coax connector (think BOSS pedal power jack) to power pedals. Between the jack and the power supply is a little box with a polarity reversing ON/OFF/ON switch. I keep a little drawer full of 2.1mm adapters that allow me to connect to pretty much any dc power jack.

Hakko FX-888 soldering iron

A lot of the equipment is connected together. I will have to post a block diagram of the interconnections one of these days.
