Shalom Chaverim,
I have been reviewing our Service and found many places for you to participate! I have something for each of you! A reading, various parts of the Torah Service, or blowing the Shofar!! Your participation is welcomed and needed. If there is a particular reading or Honor you would like to have, please let email me at: rebbetsy18@gmail.com
This week's Torah portion is Ki Tavo, When you Enter, Deuteronomy 26:1-29:8:
The Israelites are instructed to express their gratitude to God for their bountiful harvests and freedom from slavery by tithing ten percent of their crops for the Levite, the stranger, the orphan, and the widow. The people are told to display on large stones God's commandments for all to see. The Levites are to proclaim curses upon those who violate God's commandments. The Israelites are told that if they obey God's Mitzvot faithfully, they will receive every blessing imaginable. They are also told that if they do not fulfill their brit, covenant, with God, many curses will descend upon them. Moses reminds the Israelites of the miracles they
witnessed in the wilderness and commands them to observe the terms of the covenant so that they may succeed in all that they undertake.
So happens that Ki Tavo has the longest sixth Aliya in the Bible, 63 verses!!! That works out to be three full columns of Torah. I know because I read them at my daughter's Bat Mitzvah about 14 years ago!!
Yartzeits:
We do include the name of a loved in, both in our Torah and more and during our monthly Friday night Services. Please send us the names of those you would like to have remembered in this way.
