Native American Identity by Perry G. Horse
This article is about the meaning of white and the real meaning that there is nothing like white privilege. In the article, the author talks about her grandmother talking about how later in life they will all be living like white people. The language and the way of life will all be the white way. But white is not a race so saying that there is a way of life kind of defeats the purpose of the race. The way that the world is today I would say that it is the way that it is but with the Native they think that everything that does have a culture or purpose is just a white way, but it’s just a way of life. Living this way is a way of life that you are able to survive in, and there are also different places nowadays where race is mixed everywhere. Being able to adapt to all races for your own way to live life is a little easier.

"Vintage: School Dress codes Over The Years" Moms.com. Digital Image. Accessed October 2021.
This article, explains how the years have gone on and how different the type of dress codes and how have changed. The rules have mainly been pertaining to girls, there are rules for the girls to keep their legs and arms covered. As times have changed, things have been the same with the way someone is viewed by the way they dress. The years 1954 to 1964, there were no dress codes and the only thing that was a problem was the shirttails. There are things that schools don't allow because they know the effects that it puts on the student in the clothes and the others around them. The author states ¨There are other rules that are designed to govern what school district handbooks describe as dress code infractions that would distract students from a learning environment.¨ (Kelly-Gross) Like dressing in their nightclothes and wanting to be comfortable could make them more tired and unable to perform their classes. Other clothing that shows too much skin on girls for their tops is usually not able to be allowed. When it comes to pants there are some schools that are different, they all have a different length than they want it to be, Some only allow pants and no shorts or skirts, or they have to pass the length of their girls´ fingertips. When it comes to hair color it hasn't been a big issue but it is the length or the amount of hair. This usually was pertaining to African Americans because their hair does not grow down it grows out and up. Some schools like to have a strict dress code where everyone is wearing the same thing and there is no confusion or confrontation.

100 years of Girls School Uniforms by Glamour (Youtube Video)
In this video, I found about the uniforms in schools and how much they have changed over the years during the 1900s. It was more classy and the girls were dressed up more ladylike and this was something that people felt was better to take more seriously. Within this whole video, they have different styles that the girls were able to dress in and it seemed like a need to cover up most of their bodies. There were outfits like sailors or blazers with a skirt, Or even a skirt and cardigan along with a collared shirt. These were uniforms that were either given to them from the school or required to buy just to be able to get the education that they got. There were no shorts or shirts up until 1960, this was not allowed for girls and they still made sure to require long socks. There were a lot more rules or people having to wear the same thing as others than just having current things you can not wear.

Dress Codes Get Tested Local Schools Crackdown on Dyed Hair, Blue Jeans, Other Violation in 1963 by Mark J. Price
This article talks about the levels of shirts or short lengths that are allowed at school. This is something that also pertains to the girls and the boys do not have to worry about the length of their pants. This article talks about some things that are said about the girls' clothing that are not following the dress code. Some girls get pulled out of class or in the middle of their friends and told these things can be embarrassing. These rules are put in place because they find that this is the way that girls should dress. Dressing more professionally, and ladylike is a way that was always taught in the olden days. and people were offended or judged for the things that people would say for showing more skin. The author states ¨Acceptance of individual responsibility for being a good citizen.¨ (Price) There are many people that still talk like this in this day and age. The girls are being taught that cover their bodies in a way that people are able to take them more seriously.

"Can girls wear shorts and trousers too? A review of South Australian school uniform policy following mandated requirements for choice. by Science Letter.
In the article, ¨Can girls wear shorts and trousers too?¨ From a science letter discusses how in 2018 there was a talk about being able to put more options for girls in dress codes at schools. The South Australian Department of Education and Child Development (DECD) talks about being able to add things like pants and shorts options in the dress code requirement. This was not based on gender but on the comfortability and the right choices for the students. This is meaning what they feel most comfortable about themselves during the school day. This was something that they saw as good because it was better for them to do physical activities and for the psychological well-being of the girls. “Restrictions that exclude trousers/pants or shorts as uniform options for girls can promote inequality in comfort and engagement in school activities.” (Science Letter) This was looked at in Australian schools and their uniform policies that were looked at for the inequality in comfort and being able to engage in more school activities. For most schools with dress codes, the girls were only given options like skirts and dresses. There were more public schools that were willing to agree with the guidelines that the DECD than all of the other private schools were not. There were more gender-specific options in private schools than in public schools. They gave the choices an open option of what they wanted to wear but based on the school's dress codes policies. This was just allowing them to wear what we want but still had to follow the rules that were given in the handbook, just how our high school is here.

"Illinois high school accused of body-shaming for dress code guide." by Dakin Andone
The article ¨Illinois high school accused of body-shaming for dress code guide¨ by Dakin Andone talks about a Catholic high school regarding the girls' dresses and not allowing them to have necklines low enough to show their cleavage. They want to make sure that their dresses are acceptable for their school and know that they are not showing too much of the girls' skin, like with the length of the skirts being mid-thigh and nothing higher. This is something that definitely was seen as applied to girls with different figures than others. This is because while some girls' bodies are different and the way that it fits on one girl could be different for others that are more developed or just based on their body type. They had a slideshow showing the dos and don'ts of their dress code, and while the girls had 11 slides the boys only had 2. When the students were given this presentation from the school they had all the girls and boys in separate rooms. The girls were not happy with the way they felt that they were being targeted and were told that they had to make sure they cover up their bodies and did not show much. The school felt that teaching these girls the dress code would help the students bring more moral values of modesty and also considering that they were a Catholic school as well.

¨Are School Dress Codes Sexist or Racist?¨ by Above the Noise. (Youtube Video)
This video ¨Are Schools Dress Codes Sexies or Rasist¨ it shows different things that many schools do not allow and are against their school's policies. It starts off with a guy explaining things that are not allowed in most schools. Then shows a scenario of 3 girls in violation of the dress code, from showing their shoulders, wearing ripped jeans, and having a cap on. He explains that when he was in middle school that the problem for his school was long hair, and him being an African American male with braids he was told to cut his hair or to leave. There were many of the rules that people found to be targeting the girls and also people of color because more clothing that was shown is women's clothing and the hair types like curly or just hair that stands out or like more related to African Americans. There were interviews from students at schools and their opinions on the regulations on the dress codes, most did not support it because of being pulled out of class or just being told that they were a ¨distraction.¨ Students want to be able to express themselves and also just be able to have more student voice in the dress code policies in what they can and can't wear. Also, just the regulations bring the point of the inequality that the girls were being more targeted than the males were. This is because the pictures that were shown for what was not acceptable were mostly females.

¨French School Dress Code Debates Sparks Cries of Sexism And Misogyny¨ by Chris O´Brian.
An article that is connected with the world view of my topic is called ¨French School Dress Code Debates Sparks Cries of Sexism And Misogyny¨ and it has a story of a school in France and the problems that have come up for them regarding their dress code. The school decided that they should illustrate a view of the type of loathing that was not allowed in their policy. So I put 2 pictures of girls out of the dress code, one girl was wearing a shirt that was exposing the lower belly and the other girl was wearing a mini skirt, then they put big X's slashes on top of them. The students were using Instagram to expose the wrongful accusation that they were doing to the girls and using the dress code policy for sexism. The caption attached to the posted quotes ¨They will surely tell us that it distracts the boys, that it is explicit. So men can dress however they want. They sexualize us though we are dressing for the heat, should we wear a sweater to please them?... They would rather remind us that a woman is an object than deal with the real problem of this establishment, and there are many of them.¨ (O´Brian) They used this platform to start a Hashtag trend to address the dress code policy and how wrong it is for the girls having to be the main target of this. They feel that they are more worried about the boys not being able to control themselves than they are about teaching the boys how to maintain their relationships with the girls and the values of respect as well. The staff argued that the students have to feel that they have to dress this type of way when they are just going to be going to school to learn but accommodating with weather and also the new styles that these generations have is something that the students want them to understand. When the dress code policy is being brought up it is the girl's clothing that is listed but there are no questions about the boy's clothing. The students at another high school then later started a protest against their high school dress code and with this, they launched a petition to support the idea of letting girls wear crop tops to school.

¨Surprising Facts About Japanese Schools¨ by Top 10s
Also, a video connecting ¨Surprising Facts About Japanese Schools¨ explains that Japanese schools can be more on the strike side because they want to make sure that the students know and focus on their education the most. They teach the students that they are there to learn so students have a strict dress code that makes them dress professionally no matter what grade and even having relationships is banned from the school. The boys have to wear a type of suit that is long and with gold buttons. The girls have to wear long sleeves, long skirts, and high long socks, the girls are limited to the amount of skin that they are able to wear. From the video, it says ¨Some find it very shocking as it´s liberals compared to the other rules about Japan and their schools so much so that people who attend cosplay often about Japan and their schools so much so that people who attend cosplay often do it in Japanese school girls costumes.¨ When it comes to hair, the boys are told to make sure their hair is short and no longer touching their shoulders. This is because for them they think that when the boys have shorter hair they are taken seriously in a professional manner. For the girls they allow them to have any type of hairstyle that they want to have but one thing is that the girls are not allowed to shave their legs because this is a way of them focusing on their looks. The school does what it can to make sure these students know that they need to focus on their education and not their looks.

¨Korean School Uniforms Overview¨ by Jennifer L. Betts
Lastly, another article connecting to would view is ¨Korean School Uniforms Overview¨ explaining the Korean dress code within the school and for most of them had started wearing uniforms from elementary. Quoted to the article ¨Therefore, students from elementary to high school and even college will wear designed uniforms.¨ This was all sorted out a very long time ago and this was no matter if it was a public or private school there were just about the same types of uniforms that they have to wear on a day to day at school. They had it set for both genders to have properly fitting clothing for the weather as well. This is something that they felt found a lot easier because it was formal and also so the school didn't have a problem with the types of clothing that some kids would wear. Part of this was a struggle because the parents had to make sure they had enough money to pay for uniforms that the school had set for the students to be able to go to school. The clothing differed from the genders, grade level, and the type of school that they are in, this was so they can easily tell each other apart and also properly address what is okay for the different ages. The reason the students wear the uniforms throughout their school years is to help them in many ways because they believe that it will help with enhancement of school work, equality, relativism, and in some ways helps with the social classes as well. This creates equal rights and also a smoother routine for students because they are not separated between the rich and poor because they are all dressed the same. There are some negative sides and that is the students are not able to self-express, limits personal growth, and also in some ways, it is not gender equality.
