What this article was about was that she was talking about how her mom and dad come from different sides like the River Indian and the Mountain person. She also explains her identity as a native and she goes deeper into her name and where she got it from. Also this chapter talks about how technology has taken over and it's affecting many communities and how we could be losing everything like our culture and how we do things in our traditional way. And she also talked about where she was from and described how her homeland looked and used much detail. Another thing is how everything is bonded together like the plants, animals, and just life in general and how that is important to us natives because we rely on everything in this world and what the world has to offer.

What this article was about was Native American Identification. Which means that being Native American in a white society is hard. Some Native Americans don't identify themselves as Native Americans and more of American Indians, especially those who were born after 1950. Most Native Americans or American Indians have a special document called Certificate of Indian Blood which tells you how much blood you are depending which tribes you are from and it shows the percentages of that tribe. Over the years cultures in Native American tribes have changed and they aren't the same anymore because of the fact that we live in a white society that has affected us significantly.

With the history of suicide is it has been around for generations and the numbers are going up each year. With suicide Native Americans and hispanics have been known to have the most attempts and the highest rates that have done it. Men are most likely to go through with it and succeed, as with women they will attempt but the numbers say they do not go through with it. When people talk about this subject or even bring it up most people intent to ignore it or push it aside, which is the reason why the numbers have tripled since 1999 to 2014.

Depression is the key cause of Suicide and ages 15 to 24 suffer from the highest rate of suicide and depression. It is important that when you feel like this you ask for help. Losing interest in hobbies or low energy are one of ways you can spot depression and someone having suicidal thoughts. Depression comes in different forms and it may be eating more or less and having no energy. But sometimes these things are temporary and you will bounce back.

“ The state of Mental Health In America”. Mental Health America, Better Help , Mental Health American, https://mhanational.org/issues/state-mental-health-america . Accessed Nov 12, 2021.
In 2019 just prior to Covid-19 19.8% of adults experienced mental health or illness which is equal to about 50 million americans. About 4.6% of adults were really considering suicide and have had serious thought about this problem. About an increase of 664,000 people from just last year. In the youth about 15.8% were in a depression stage and the ages that experienced that were around 12-17 year olds. Over 2.5 million youth have or are living with major depression and multiracial youth are at greater risk. About over 60% of the youth that have mental issues or suicidal thoughts did not receive treatment and they are still living with it. Even the states that can provide treatment did not and 1 in 3 young people did not get the treatment that they needed. Even among youth that had depression only about 27% of youth received the help that they needed.

When the pandemic started there were already numbers of people that had mental health issues and suicidal thoughts but once Covid-19 hit that's when things were getting out of hand. During the pandemic over about 4 in 10 adults have reported that they have depression or symptoms of anxiety. There was about 12% that reported an increase in alcohol use and substance abuse and 36% of adults were having trouble sleeping, all this was caused by the stress and overwhelming feeling of Covid-19. 18-24 year old were at higher risk of having poor mental health and substance abuse disorder, though all this was going on none of them received the help that they needed. Concerns of mental health have grown over the period of this pandemic and substance abuse , also suicidal ideation.

Depression and Suicide Rates Are Rising Sharply in Young Americans
The video that I watched was called “There's a Startling Increase in Major Depression Among Teens in the U.S” This video talked about how especially in teenage girls the numbers have jumped almost 37% in the last decade. Over more than 3 million abolestens aged 12-17 reposted at least 1 depressive episode in the past year. Despite all the causes of teen depression there has not been any kind of corresponding increase in mental health treatments. Young people have not been treated or were hardly treated at all, this affected the way that young people were learning. For most schools budgeting is an issue and that is why schools do not have a good support system for students.

What the article by Tyler Hale was about is that individuals that have mental health, depression, or anxiety and other mental health issues that mental health has a major impact on the economy. According to world health organization (WHO) every 40 seconds someone dies as a result of suicide, which means 800,000 people from the age 15-29 the numbers have gone up. Penn state researchers say that over the next 20 years the global impact of mental illness could be more than $16 trillion. WHO estimates that $1 trillion is lost every year due to the decrease as a result of mental health. In 2016 WHO study says that for every dollar that is invested in treatment for depression and anxiety that $4 will be returned. Also WHO estimates that 264 million individuals have depression. There is a rise in individuals who have mental health issues reported, from 1990-2013 increased more than 50%.

Brådvik, Louise. “Suicide Risk and Mental Disorders.” International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, MDPI, 17 Sept. 2018, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6165520/.
In this article about suicide risk it talked about was how suicide is a major health problem and the global suicide mortality rate amounts to 1.4% deaths world wide. Most people do not die from mental disorders but more by first hand. The risk of suicide has been estimated to be 5-8% more for mental health disorders and those are depression, alcoholics, and schizophrenia. With depression it is one of the most strongly related to suicide ideation and attempt. Apart from a study done by Australian Rural mental health study there were 1051 participants and about 364 reported life-time depression. With that being said 48% reposted lifetime suicidal ideation, while 16% reported lifetime suicidal attempt. The severity of depression was very high in both women and men.

Vice."suicide forest in japan”. Youtube, uploaded by vice, 9 May 2012 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FDSdg09df8
The video that I chose was suicide forest in japan what the video was about was there is a forest in japan and they call it Aokigahara forest of mount fuji. They find about 100 bodies each year. In the old days suicide was mainly known as samurai's act. In the old days poor families would abandon their elders in the mountains. There are signs to stop suicidal people and locals know that they are not supposed to be there in the forest. The researchers has found more than 100 suicide corpses in the last 20 years. There is a tape that is in the forest where they use it to help them find their way back. When you go in the forest your main thing to do is kill yourself or hang yourself. When someone leaves signs you know that they were hesitant at first and they don't really do it. Majority of them hang themselves and the other opinion is sleeping pills.
