Community: ¨Sharing One Skin¨
By: Jeannette Armstrong
Paradigm wars was about how Jeannette Armstrong from the Okanagan talks about what community means to her. The best translation for community is “sharing one skin.” It mentions that without community, a piece of you is missing. Armstrong talks about now there are 4 selfs. Spiritual, physical, emotional , and thinking- intellectual. It then shifts into talking about how they believe that they are made of the land. The language they speak is from the land. Destruction of the land doesn't hurt only land but Indigenous people as well.

Native American Identity
By: Perry G. Horse
Native American Identities talks about how a Native Americans have adapted to the colonized white people way. We speak their language, have their school systems and government. Natives have been whitewashed into their ideas like certificates of indian blood (C.I.B.) Though on reservations, tribes have sovereignty due to the treaties signed by the United States. White privilege is real and Indigenous people are asking what are you? Due to the fact that you puzzle them.

Why the Odd, Bright Hair Color?
By: Brian Brecker
¨Why the Odd, Bright Hair Color?¨ by Brian Brecker was about how it is trendy to have colored hair. Students are being seen as rebellious and attention craving for having their hair colored. But many students who do have their hair colored do it express their sexuality and/or just themselves. It also mentions how students just want to feel different from others and this is one way to portray that. Results are an additional way to express your identity.

Dress Code in Kathleen Wynne´s Office Forbid Miniskirts , Halter Tops
By: Robert Benzie
In the article ¨Dress Code in Kathleen Wynne's office Forbid Miniskirts, Halter Tops¨ by Robert Benzie, stated what clothes were and were not acceptable for a workplace. The article calls these non acceptable clothes ”fashion crimes.” A few examples are spaghetti strap dresses and tank tops, ripped jeans, and crop tops. Perfume was also not allowed due to the effects it may cause to other people. ¨Be casual, rather than sloppy.¨ Was one of the statements in the article. In the end it mentions how Monique Smith, former Liberal MPP tried to force men to wear jackets and ties in the house but it did not work out. In conclusion I feel as if women are put under the spotlight when it comes to breaking the dress code.

Profile: LA school district's new dress codes and rules for teachers.
By: unknown
In the audio ¨Profile: LA school district's new dress codes and rules for teachers.¨ Talked about how even teachers have a dress code. They should be wearing suits for the men and pantyhose with dresses for women. The jeans and t-shirts are not acceptable or professional. It had many opinions to which the student grades were going up because of the way their teacher dresses. Mr.Johnson who is part of the teachers associations thinks that how the teacher dresses should not be important or matter when in school.

Dress Code Deep Dive
By: Nya and Lola
The podcast ¨Dress Code Deep Dive¨ by Nya and Lola is about how the dress code makes a person feel, and the kind of mindset that is created for kids, mainly girls. When girls get harassed or told how they dress is inappropriate it makes girls feel at fault internally. Not the person who commented in the first place. The rules that are taught: Your dress or skirt cannot be shorter than your fingertips, No spaghetti straps, tube tops, crop tops, and muscle shirts. It creates a ``distraction free environment¨ is usually the term used to describe the use of the dress code. But when taking out a girl for wearing something it is “prioritizing someone else's learning over hers.¨ Boys who go out in the real world also have a mindset from the dress code. Like that a girl is asking for it¨ just because she is showing some skin, potentially creating rape culture. ¨1 in 5 women have experienced attempted or completed rape and it was 1 and 3 womens first time having sex. There is not an ideal dress code but it needs to be improved. A principal from east longmeadow high school said. ¨When a staff member or a student thinks that an outfit or something that someone is wearing is inappropriate. Instead of victim blaming and telling them that what they're wearing is inappropriate. What in dressing this way is inappropriate to you.¨

Is Your School’s Dress Code Outdated?
By: Shannon Doyen
¨Is Your School’s Dress Code Outdated?¨ by Shannon Doyen was about how girls have had their photos digitally animated. Due to the fact that they did not follow the dress code. The yearbook teacher was the one who made the alterations. It happened to many girls but no boys. Yet they had a swim team of boys wearing speedos. The girls whose photos were digitally altered stated ¨making them feel ashamed of their bodies.¨ Parents and the girls demanded an apology. At Bartram Trail, a public high school they state “must be consistent with the St. Johns County School District Student Code of Conduct or may be digitally adjusted.” They do not want to leave people out for having such photos so they will make the alterations digitally.

School board to consider dress code policy eliminating school uniforms
By: Luci Weldon
“School board to consider dress code policy eliminating school uniforms” by Luci Weldon, pertained to Warren County schools and how at first the dress code was put in place to stop kids from “competition.” Who had money for what and who did not. So they made a policy to wear shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, shoes and belts of certain colors with specific styles. When COVID happened and kids were finally able to come back to school they made their dress code less strict. Students did not have to wear uniforms and could wear other clothes as long as it pertained to the dress code. In the proposed dress code policy it states “Students must wear clothing that covers their skin from chest to mid-thigh with opaque (non-see-through) fabric in front, back and on the sides.” This was an example of the updates that were made and reviewed from the staff. If someone were to break the dress code they would be approached by someone of the same sex. The new dress code policy here is still in the process of being made official.

Student protests growing over gender-equal dress codesSan Diego high school students protest dress codes, calling them 'sexist' and 'outdated'
By: Shannon Handy
In the Article San Diego high school students protest dress codes, calling them 'sexist' and 'outdated' by Shannon Handy, it talks about how students at a high school feel that the dress code is unfair mainly towards the girls. So they are holding protests. "If they're gonna have a dress code that strict, then they might as well give everyone uniforms at that point, and it's also sexist because there's a lot more for the girls than for the guys,” says student Anthony Pustizzi. They have started petitions and other surrounding high schools have also held walkouts in support. The schools have also allowed these protests to happen saying that they may not support what is being protested but they know student voices are important.

Manchester school board approves district dress code written by student
By: Paul Feely
Paul Feeley article talks about how a student, Kellen Barbee, was able to write the new school dress code. “My goal is that we stop scratching the surface, and can have a serious goal-oriented discussion as a district about what the real problem is."(Barbee.) His dress code stares at minimum to wear a top, bottom, and footwear. These that are prohibited are sheer clothing, shirts with sayings that are not school friendly, bathing suits, pajamas, rips and tares are fine as long as no private parts are exposed. Along with the new dress code policy it also removed the punishments that affected kids' school learning time. Some disagreed with the student but the board member, Nicole Leapley, says "I just know the policy as it stands right now is not working for all of our students, and this is a step forward,The policy we have now and the named articles of clothing that are prohibited really do single out girls and I'm not okay singling out girls in their education."

Dress Code
By: Emily Gillian & Meghan Lagan
In this podcast called Dress Code, people in high school give their take on the dress code. Talking about the dress code withholds people creativity and self confidence. Also mentions how some students will not get dress coded due to the fact that they get favored. They say shoulders and legs should be fine to show but butt and cleavage areas should be covered by your clothing. One of the girls who was interviewed says that was dress coded for wearing a romper because she was tall because she saw another girl who was shorter wearing a romper and they did not say anything to her. Some of these people say that wearing explicit content or brands that are alcohol or drugs should be able to be worn around school because it is not like they are bringing a 6-pack to school . While others said that it is just a shirt you can just change it and wear another t-shirt.
