Grades 11-12: .5 Credit College Prep

How has art changed through time?

This course is structured to build relationships and develop artistic skills through the creation of individual and community based art projects. This class will be comprised of students with and without intellectual and other related disabilities. The ideal candidate for this class is someone who enjoys and feels comfortable in the art room and working collaboratively with peers with intellectual disabilities. This would be an incredible experience for any student who may be thinking about the following career options; education, special education, art education, psychology, physical or occupational therapy. Students do not need to have artistic experience to excel in this class, they just need to be kind and supportive individuals who enjoy working with others. The ultimate goal for this class is to build peer relationships and strengthen and beautify our community through the creation of art. This class will also be participating in fundraising endeavors through the sale of art to further support some of our existing all inclusive programs here at SHS including Best Buddies, Unified Track and Field Team, and Habitat for Humanity.
