SHS Course Descriptions

State and National Curriculum Frameworks and Standards are at the core of instruction for every class at SHS.

Students in grade 9/10 take the MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) in Science. Students in grade 10 take the English/Language Arts and Math.

The Program of Studies describes all course offerings at STEM Academy and Sandwich High School. It must be noted that courses included in the schedule are offered subject to sufficient enrollment. Courses with low subscription may be cancelled year to year. Students may have to choose alternatives. It is recommended that students review course selections with parents, teachers, and their school counselor.

At the beginning of each course, teachers distribute course expectations designed according the SHS Core Values and Beliefs. These written expectations establish the teacher's requirements for grading, homework, class participation, and effort. Course expectation sheets call attention to the attendance policy in place at Sandwich High School.
