How do writers use language to persuade?
Advanced Placement English Language and Composition engages students in becoming skilled readers of prose written during a variety of time periods and rhetorical contexts. Students will improve their ability to write concisely and with support. Students will be assessed on their ability to analyze fiction and nonfiction, with a focus on rhetorical devices and the art of persuasion, and to communicate their analyses in writing and verbally in a technology rich environment. Students will complete selected readings readings and writing during the summer prior to the course, in addition to the school-wide required summer reading selection.
