The setting inside the negative spaces is supposed to represent a galaxy-type area, hence the white dots/stars. I used watercolors and a white oil paint pen to do the galaxy pattern and a pencil to draw in the negative spaces and border. The paint pen was also used to cover up little spaces I messed up on, such as the small lines between two negative spaces where leaf stems were. I also used pink, purple, and blue glitter mixed together because I felt like it would tie it all together. I decided to do the galaxy because I figured it would look cool in the end in little patches across the paper. The work is composed to follow the original setup of the leaves (and acorn), but I see a form of a dancing girl or something if you really try to see it.
I added some glitter last minute because I felt it was a little bit too bland for my tastes. I felt like it would really tie the whole project together which it seemed to do.
The story behind the art is that space is really cool and I like to look at it and draw it. I like it because of the cool designs and how nothing is ever exactly the same in one place compared to another. Though it doesn’t directly relate to my life, it does relate to how everybody is different, like how the people around me all look different and live different, meaning nothing is the same in each person’s head. I want to work on making my lines and spaces between two things neater.
