Contours

The subject of this piece is my hand with a rubber band wrapped around my pointer finger and pinky finger. My pointer finger is also pointing up, with my thumb and middle finger touching and the other two fingers just resting where they fell. This piece was made on normal 8.5inx11in paper with a 4H pencil. I chose this position for my hand because it was one of the first position I tried out that I felt I could stay in for a long time comfortably, though I did slightly cut off circulation on my pointer and pinky fingers and they turned slightly purple/blue.

This piece evolved quite a bit. I usually have issues with proportion, and this piece was no different, not to mention that hands are one of the most difficult things to draw (for both me and many other artists.) This project included a lot of resizing and adjusting of the thumb and pointer finger.

The story behind this piece is that this position was comfortable for my hand and I was able to hold it for extended periods of time, making it fairly easy for me to do my piece with few breaks for my hand to stretch. If I were to fix up this project a thing I want to fix up is the proportions slightly because some fingers are too long/too short compared to others.

The subject of this piece is my Nike Son of Force sneakers. This piece was created with the paper given to me and a 4H pencil. I chose this shoe because it’s one of my favorites and has a pretty complicated design with different types of fabric/materials that created different lines.

Lines were shown especially in the shoelaces where I had to do a lot of overlapping and crossing that was pretty confusing. I last minute fixed up the shoelaces because they were sloppy and hard to perfect. I also tried to erase the hairy lines and extra/leftover lines from previous designs or sketches.

The meaning behind this artwork is that I really like these shoes and wanted to capture them in a good way. I would fix the proportion a bit because on my aerial view especially it doesn’t quite look like the real thing from that angle.
