Spheres

For this project, I was assigned to make three spheres using the pinch pot technique and squishing two together to form a sphere. For each sphere, I needed to make a different design that followed the guidelines of man-made, nature, and sgraffito. I created a pyramid design for my man-made sphere, a small forest set-up for my nature design, and scratched a butterfly with some designs around it for my sgraffito design.

This sphere is my nature design. It's a small toad on a patch of moss between some rocks. under mushrooms. I chose this design because I like how calm it seems and how it's like a small fantasy world with overly-large mushrooms. I also like the color used for the grass on the sphere.

This sphere is my man-made sphere. I decided to build pyramids because on this day Mr. Andreson wasn't at school and I wanted to challenge myself to figure out how to build a complicated form without any help. I succeeded, and like the final product, although I would change the color if I could go back.

My sgraffito sphere is a butterfly with some interesting stripes along the sides. I like the pattern I used because it makes it seem like the butterfly is flying and those are wind lines.
