Blind Contour

In this piece, there are many subjects. There are a few skulls, a crying face, a tattooed hand, and some scattered drawings that aren’t really anything. It truly is like an “art dump” of sorts because they have no meaning all together, but some of them do have a meaning separate from the others. I used quite a variety of this color, it has every color of the rainbow in one place or another. I tried to utilize my space as much as possible, which involved adding extra drawings other than the assigned ones and using ink. I tried to use value in some parts of this piece, but it is very clear in the purple skull in the bottom-center.

I was planning on just doing a pattern in the background with ink, but then I got a splatter on it and used a lesson we learned while doing Beautiful Oops, and made something out of it. So I used my ink and made it “edgy” and splattered ink across it a few times.

The face crying in the corner has smudged makeup, and I was trying to show how people can hide behind a mask but still be emotionally a wreck. The burning skull represents how sometimes I just want to get rid of my thoughts but can’t seem to stop thinking. In this project, there are a few things like my life. I’m kind of a mess, which I decided the ink can represent. If I could, I would go back and use a little less ink in the splatters, if I included them at all. I would also use a better color on the hand, like rather than an aqua color I would use a tan, seeing as the aqua doesn’t tie in very well with the other colors.
