For this piece, I chose to use canvas, acrylic paints, and metallic silver spray paint. I chose these materials because I felt they would show what I wanted to show best as well as connect to my artists that inspired the piece.
I used brighter colors to really show the contemporary pop aspect of the piece and really get the message across: Look at me! I’m here and I’m important! Because that is what pop art is.
The meaning behind the lips is that they seemed to be really important in pop art and also everyday life. As for the blood, that is to draw extra attention to the fact that people are dying every day and the government is doing nothing about it, showing the political aspect of pop art.
