Historical Coil

This piece is based off of a historical pot that is a fish from the Olmec civilization in Mexico. My task was to recreate the pot, which I feel I did at least a little bit.

This piece took a lot of work because it was a lot of coiling at a specific angle to achieve the curve the fish has. When glazing, I used a glaze that would make the fish look as if it is metal, as well as added small detail with just two layers of white glaze so they would be barely visible but still there.

I like that the final piece still resembles the original work of art while also having a small twist with the white glaze. However, if I were to redo the piece I would probably use a color other than white as it does sort of look out of place.
