Soft Slab Construction

For the soft slab construction I made 2 different platters and 2 mugs. I created the first slab platter by rolling out clay so it is all evenly the same width. I then laid the clay across a large oval mold and lightly pressed down the middle so it dipped in a little. I added "feet" on the bottom, using somewhat flattened balls of clay for the platter to sit on. Next I cut out different sized circles of clay with a stencil and slipped and scored them around the edges. After being brisk fired, I glazed the platter a green color and the circles blue. For the second platter I did the same steps, then used a smaller circle mold. I put on 3 feet on this one instead of 4 on the last since it was smaller. I used a bright yellow glaze to finish it off. For both of my platters if I could change one thing it would be to add more to both of them, some sort of detail on the yellow one, and to make the edges smoother on the larger one. I am proud of how smooth they both were and how they didn't wobble around. I also made 2 mugs, made similarly to the platters. I evenly rolled out clay but instead of laying it down I wrapped it around a tennis ball tube. The first one was plain besides 1 stripe at the top, with a twisted handle I attached to the side. I took a lot of time to smooth out the edges, making it safe to drink out of. I glazed this mug a light purple and I'm quite proud of the final outcome. The second mug I made I decided to add a pattern instead of a handle. I put leaves on it after smoothing out the edges and then used a green glaze. Unfortunately while I was going to take a picture of my finished product, the leaf mug was dropped on accident and broke, it ended up being glued together enough to take a picture of how it had looked originally however. If I could change one thing about the purple mug it would be to make it more evenly round than it is because it's somewhat lopsided. The things I would change about the green mug would be to have kept it in tack of course, but despite that I would've liked to have the leaves more even and smoother looking.
