zentangle value strips

The subject of this creation is dark and light values, gradually making each square darker and darker. I started out by making each square's details in pencil, then traced over it in pen. I didn't really want it to be to complex so I kept most of the squares pretty simple. I also started with the lightest side and added more lines or ink at the end to make sure there was a change in each one.

I used mostly lines and grouping to make the value strip really come together. I used grouping in sections like the polka-dots, leaves, swirls and rectangles. Lines were used in all the squares. I changed the number of shapes I put in each value square, I changed how many lines there were and how thick they were. I revised a lot in the last block because I wanted it to be as dark as possible.

I incorporated a lot of different styles and to make each block different. This value strip relates to my life because there's a bright side and a dark side, which I feel shows how I can be moody. If I could improve this zentangle value strip I would choose to add more detail to it. I would also like to do this in color instead of just black and white.
