linoleum prints

1. the subject of this creation is 2 of my friends. To make this, I printed and cut out the original picture, then I went over the back of the paper with a 6B pencil. After this I traced the lines, went over it again (on the linoleum) with a black marker. Next I used the tools to carve out the negative space. Once I was finished with all of this I made several different prints until I got 4 I liked that also fit the criteria. I chose to create this because I thought it was simple yet fun.

2. I used line in the way that I carved out the linoleum, I also used color in my ink and paper. I changed the amount of ink and/or pressure I used to get a perfect print. this took some time but once I got the hang of it, it came easier.

3. meaning of this artwork is to find what works, each person's "perfect" print was made differently. this project relates to my life because it displays my friends who mean a lot to me. If I could change one thing about this artwork it would be to have done my print on a different background, on something more interesting than colored paper.
