leaves

I wanted to have bold, solid, vibrant colors slowly fade into where the leaves were, by blending the colors and making each one fade into the next. I used the colors of the rainbow to start with brighter colors and have them fade into lighter ones. I started by outlining the negative space with graphite, then I used watercolor colored pencils to add color. following this I wetted a paint brush and blended the colored pencils to make everything blend better. I chose to create this because I feel like the brighter colors on the outside draw your attention to it more. I began in the corners and edges and worked my way in, trying to use the same amount of space for each color.

I used lines (in pencil) to show how the leaves were organized on the paper, and where the negative spaces were. I revised my blending a lot until the brush strokes looked how I wanted them to.

The meaning of this artwork is to show the negative or white space and almost "switch the roles" by turning the white space into the colored or positive space while making the space where the leaves were into the white space. This relates to my life because I have some bold and some calm moments in my life also I can be loud (red) or quiet (blue), depending on my mood. If I could change something about my artwork it would be to make the green more visible.
