Breadth

Artist Statement:

  • These are for the project, "Breadth." The Breadth project shows certain different ways to create pictures (digitally) or pictures that are processed in the darkroom. The first picture is where you take the film sheet in the darkroom, dip the first end in the developer, then roll it up letting the developer run down creating the developer streaks. The second picture is of a siono type sheet. What you do is print your picture on a transparency sheet, take a siano type sheet, place the transparency sheet on top of the siano type, leave it in the sun for fifteen minutes, place it in water, then let it dry. The third photo was taken at a wedding, what you do is set the exposure at 5" and put a canon flash on top of the camera. What this does is stretch the surrounding lights but keep the people relatively in focus. The fourth photo is photoshopping and overlaying to photos to create one super dope picture. The fifth picture is a overlaytype technique, it's where you place a picture over the main photo, set the eraser's opacity to a low setting to create a see through kind of picture over the first. The sixth picture is from a film roll, you take the film roll, take an exacto knife and scratch whatever you wanna scratch. The seventh picture is a photoshop technique where you make the original photo black and white and then take a second photo (the same photo) kayer them, and erase around what you want to be colored. The eighth picture is where you can take one photo, then adjust it's color so you can make one picture into another colored photo. The ninth picture is where you can take a laser pointer to create a photo with laser "paint." The tenth picture is where you can take a light to create any type of shadow you desire. In this case, I took a shadow to in a way create another person. The eleventh photo is a photogram, it's where you take a ton of different photos to make one "MASTERPIECE." The twelve photo is a technique in the darkroom. You would normally need to place the entire sheet in the developer. For this photo I put developer in a spray bottle and sprayed the sheet. It reminds me a little bit the color blind test.
