Compositions & Techniques

Leading Line:

  • I went to a park, and used the dock for a good leading line photo.

High Key Lighting:

  • I used the same dock, but added in some light to create the shot.

repetition and grouping:

  • There were many birds sitting, I slowly approached and scared them off, I quickly snapped several photos and chose this one to upload. It made for a great grouping photo!

silhouette lighting:

  • I asked my mother to sit on a wooden bench, with the sun behind her, it made a great silhouette, but not enough, so I edited the shadows.

Angle down:

  • I asked my brother to stand still, and the colors just went all together making a angle down photo.

informal balance:

  • One side (the top) was darker, while one side was lighter (the bottom)

angle up:

  • Left over from the scattered birds, was one on a pole, I grabbed the camera while it stood there and snapped the picture.

Formal Balance:

  • both sides of the photo were the same, I had my mother stand with her camera and look at me.

Far Distance:

  • While my mother and brother were taking photos, I went further back and snapped one of them.

Rule of thirds:

  • I took a picture of my friend, while keeping him to one side, making it a rule of thirds,

Close Distance:

  • I took a picture of my friend, while keeping him to one side, making it a rule of thirds.

Low Horizon Line:

  • The low horizon line was the Landscape above the water behind my brother. (this was also a great silhouette photo)

Sharp Focus:

  • I sharpened the focus with this photo a touch more while editing.

High Horizon Line:

  • It was pretty easy to take this photo, I squatted down and put the camera dangerously close to the water.

Selective Focus:

  • I just looked down at the water, and took a quick photo.

Soft Focus:

  • I was walking in the woods behind my house, And looked up and took a picture of the trees above.

Low Key Lighting:

  • The sunset made for a good low key lighting photo opportunity.
