Beautiful Oops

The beautiful oops assignment started with my teacher giving me a blank piece of paper with only a few drops of ink on the paper. From their I was instructed to do whatever I wanted with the paper as long as it was creative and filled the paper. The lesson of this was that you can make something from a mistake, like the drops of ink in this case.

The first thing I saw when I looked at my paper was sunglasses, so I thought of a biker wearing them while riding a motorcycle. The first thing I did with the drawing was I made the biker's head and hair outline, sketching it very lightly. Then I made a light outline of his body. After that I filled in the details of the biker, like his jacket and a cool handle bar mustache. Then I went over it all in darker pencil. Next I decided I needed a background because there was a lot of empty, white space. For the background I made a road and a forest type environment. I drew the road first and then the trees in the background. I drew the whole image using pencil.

The reason why I decided to draw a biker was because I thought the ink drops looked like sunglasses, like I mentioned earlier, and I thought of a biker when I thought of sunglasses. When I think of a biker I like to think of a leather jacket and usually some type of a beard or mustache so that's why I went with the jacket and mustache. I wanted the guy to look pretty hard core too, so I didn't draw a helmet. Also it wouldn't really make sense to have a helmet if he had sunglasses on.
