Welcome to Health Class at Marshwood Middle School! I am excited to meet you!
I received my BS from Wheelock College in 1991, and MS Ed. from Bank Street College of Education in 1996. In addition to teaching elementary school (general subjects K-5) and middle school health, I also worked for many years as a Child Life Specialist (CLS) in several hospitals in Boston and New York City. Child Life Specialists explain medical treatments to children and adolescents; the goal being to decrease anxiety and foster positive coping skills. Medical preparation, medical play therapy and procedural support helps patients gain a sense of mastery over their health care experiences.
My husband and I live in Eliot. I have a daughter, Maya, who is a USMC Veteran and currently works in law enforcement in Corinth Texas. Some of my passions include: triathlon and general fitness, nutrition and natural health, walking at the beach, singing and worship music, spending time in the great outdoors.
I am interested in all aspects of health and wellness and love learning as much as I can about the human body, nutrition, exercise and the psychology of decision making. I am privileged and honored to work in the Marshwood Middle School Community.
