Grade 8 - Guitar

GUITAR CLASS is offered to Eighth Grade students as a nine-week elective music class to fulfill the Fine Arts credit. It is open to all students regardless of experience. Students are graded on their effort, participation, weekly performance and assessments for notation reading.

All students have eight pieces in various styles to study and perform. When these prerequisites are met, students then choose individual pieces to study. Several musical genres spanning rock, pop, country, blues, ska, alternative, and funk are explored.

Weekly recitals are an integral part of the classroom study where students are able to work on their performance skills as well as their listening and critiquing skills.

Our weeks also include exploring acoustic guitar, ukulele, electric bass, and electric guitar. We conclude our class with a “Marshwoodstock” performance!
