The Grade Six Composing Music class is designed to give students the opportunity to study how music is composed and how to put it into practice by composing their own original works. Through form and analysis students dissect how a piece is created, identify the various parts of the song, and create a listening map of what is heard. Our Music Listening Unit is explored from the all musical genres through current music of today.
We then venture to our MAJOR CLASS PROJECT as we travel into the world of RAP MUSIC and create an original rap composition.
Students will compose original lyrics and music as they use technology including INCREDIBOX www.incredibox.com, music composition software in the Digital Audio Workstation programs: SOUNDATION , SOUNDTRAP and GARAGEBAND , and notating their music in the cloud with the online software, NOTEFLIGHT www.noteflight.com .
