Marshwood Middle School Grade 6, 7, and 8
Welcome to the Marshwood Middle School Family and Consumer Science Program! Our courses help students build real-world skills that support healthy, independent, and successful lives both now and in the future. Through hands-on learning experiences, students develop confidence in the kitchen, explore wellness and healthy living, and practice important life and career readiness skills.
Beginning in Grade 6 Nutrition, all students learn the foundations of healthy eating, kitchen safety, and food preparation while discovering how food fuels the body and supports overall health. As students move into Grades 7 and 8, they have opportunities to explore electives focused on lifelong wellness, healthy decision-making, financial literacy, career readiness, and cooking skills.
Our elective courses encourage students to set personal goals, practice teamwork, think critically, and make informed choices that support physical, mental, social, and financial well-being. Whether students are preparing healthy meals, learning about global food traditions, developing interview skills, or creating personal wellness plans, the Family and Consumer Science Program provides meaningful experiences that connect classroom learning to everyday life.
