Grade 8 Curriculum

Grade 8 Health (Students will take a second required year of Health in EITHER grade 7 or grade 8)

“Reproductive Health” class and includes the following topics:

• In-Depth Reproductive Health, Pregnancy, Fetal Development and Birth.
• Hygiene and common Reproductive Health Problems : P.M.S, Toxic Shock Syndrome, Reproductive Cancers (ovarian, uterine, cervical, breast, testicular, prostate cancer).
• Methods of Contraception (various forms - barrier, chemical, surgical, and behavioral)
• Abstinence and Healthy Dating Relationships
• Sexually Transmitted Diseases : Symptoms, Modes of Transmission and treatment.
• HIV/AIDS case study. (either Ryan White or Magic Johnson)
