Meet Mrs. Bisson

Thank you for visiting our site.

I am Kristine Bisson, Director of Choruses and Music Educator at Marshwood Middle School. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education Magna Cum Laude and my Masters of Music Education Summa Cum Laude, both from the University of Southern Maine. I thoroughly enjoyed every course and instructor, especially my choral, piano, and education studies. From 1993-2003 I began my teaching career at Marshwood Middle School. While raising my two children I left the classroom and owned a private piano and voice studio. In 2012 I was so fortunate to return to Marshwood and have been excited every year to share new musical opportunities that engage and challenge my students in a welcome place where every student can succeed.

I have had the privilege of being a guest conductor for University of Southern Maine's Junior Music Academy, Maine District middle school chorus festivals, as well as a frequent clinician for educational conferences (Maine Association for Middle Level Educators, Maine Education Association, MALI, USM). I am a proud member of the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Educators, the Maine Music Educators Association, and the Maine Arts Leadership Initiative.

I can be reached directly at: kris.bisson@rsu35.org

Please visit our pages for curriculum, our calendar of music, and further information.

Some of my favorite passions outside of teaching are playing piano, running, spending time outside in all seasons, volunteering for our Veterans, and spending time with my husband and two children.

In 2000 and again in 2004 I was awarded "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" by my former student, Jodi. I was also awarded the "Americanism Award" by American Legion Post #79 in 2017 representing the work my colleague, Cathy Locke, and I share with our school to honor Veterans annually.

Together with my choruses, my students and I were invited to teach and perform for Maine's First Lady at the State House in 2018. We were awarded the MUSIC FOR ALL 2019 Advocacy In Action Silver Award for Community Engagement for our "Bridging Adolescence: a River Flows Through Us" year-long service learning project. Also in 2019 our Chorus received our first PERFECT SCORE of 100 at an adjudicated festival, and I was honored as a finalist for the York County Maine Teacher of the Year.
