Attendance

ATTENDANCE AT REDGATE

Here at Redgate there is a shared commitment to high attendance across our school. Our staff consider unexplained absence as a safeguarding concern and we will follow it up immediately.

We explain to our pupils and families why attendance is so important and compare each pupil to local and national data so they can see clearly how they are doing. We remind our pupils in class and assembly the importance of education and the opportunities it can give you - missing school means missing out. The link between attendance and attainment is clear. The more they are in school the more they increase their opportunity to fulfil their potential.

We support families who from time to time struggle to get their children to school through regular phone calls and chats in school. Natalie our attendance officer always follows up absences and punctuality issues- she is always available to give advice.

As a parent/carer it is your responsibility to ensure that any child of compulsory school age attends school regularly and on time. Parents/ carers who fail to do this may be guilty of an offence under Section 444 or 444(1A) of the Education Act 1996 and the Local Authority may issue a penalty notice or take enforcement action through the courts to secure regular attendance.

Please give your child the opportunity to learn and flourish to their full potential, send them to school punctually each day.
