WELCOME TO Dragonflies

Welcome to Dragonflies! We are a small, friendly class where children learn in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our team is made up of Miss Kiernan, Mrs Garrity, Miss Alice, Ms Jenny, Miss Hayley, Miss Hana, Miss Chrissy, Miss Lucy , Miss Leah and Miss Roberts, and together we help every child achieve their very best.

Every Monday we will be doing show and tell. As parents/carers we would love for you to send any photos or descriptions of what they've been up to over the weekend so we can support their recognition/recounts.

Tuesday and Friday are our PE days. Please could children wear trainers on these days with their Pines uniform which is a branded/unbranded navy tracksuit with white polo t-shirt.

INCLUSION AND ETHOS

Children in Dragonflies are an important part of our Redgate community. We join in with assemblies, whole-school events, and activities whenever appropriate, ensuring our children feel included, valued, and celebrated.

CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT

In Dragonflies, we follow the Equals Curriculum which is designed for children with complex learning needs. Our learning is practical, engaging and personalised. We focus on communication, independence, social skills and wellbeing, while making learning fun and meaningful for every child. In this class, we follow the PMLD and Informal Curriculum Pathway, which best meets the needs of our pupils. The PMLD curriculum supports pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, focusing on sensory engagement, communication, and physical development where the informal curriciulm supports learning through play and exploration, developing communication, relationships, and early interaction skills. We celebrate all progress, no matter how small. We use B-Squared and the Sefton SEND Small Steps Development Journey to track each child’s achievements. This helps us set meaningful targets and share progress with parents regularly.

WORKING WITH FAMILIES

We believe learning is strongest when home and school work together. We will regularly update class dojo with a range of images on our class story and individual portfolio entries celebrating our progress and achievements throughout the year. We will also keep you informed through newsletters, parents evenings, half termly stay and play sessions as well as meetings. We welcome your support and feedback.
