As a faculty member, you will likely encounter cases of a suspected academic integrity breach at some point in your teaching career. We've compiled helpful resources from around the University to provide you with the information you need. Our goal is to both heighten awareness of what constitutes a breach in academic integrity as well as how you can respond to the students, what options are available, etc., so that we can all help students better understand what it is and how to avoid it. If you have questions about how or when to submit a remediation or a suspected academic integrity breach, please contact your departmental leadership team.
Report an academic integrity breach or remediation using the Plagiarism/Remediation Reporting Form available on PG Campus.
For questions or issues, please contact provost@purdueglobal.edu.
Instructors have the choice to issue an academic integrity breach or remediation; please review the process below.
Remediation
If the instructor chooses to give the student the opportunity to resubmit their assignment, the instructor should submit the remediation through the plagiarism process students by selecting the "Report Plagiarism" link on PG Campus and choosing the "academic integrity remediation" option.
When the student completes the microlearning modules assigned through the remediation form and the instructor has received the completion notification, if the student passes the assessment, then the student may revise and resubmit the assignment for partial credit (deduction in points must be applied based on faculty judgment; if necessary, consult with your academic chair).
If the student does not complete the microlearning modules and revised work, the 0 remains in the gradebook, and the instructor will submit an academic integrity breach along with the Turnitin report and/or other supporting documentation.
Academic Integrity Breach
The instructor will submit the academic integrity breach and supporting documentation through the plagiarism process by selecting the "Report Plagiarism" link on PG Campus and choosing the "academic integrity breach" option.
The instructor assigns a 0 for the assignment and notifies the student.
If the Provost's Office determines a second or third offense, they will work with the Registrar to ensure the course is failed or the student is dismissed.
Additional Information
Issuing a 0 grade requires an academic integrity breach submission at that time for a suspected breach. For academic integrity remediation, the instructor should issue a 0 as a placeholder until the remediation requirements are met or the deadline passes.
The remediation form must be used to begin the remediation process.
Review academic integrity information for ExcelTrack/Module Courses.
If an instructor finds that a student has inappropriately shared coursework or course materials, for example - uploaded content to third-party cheating sites, they should contact the Assistant Dean of Students and Academic Chair for their department to coordinate appropriate action.
Academic Integrity Pilot Process Summary - the current process is part of a pilot that began in January 2025. More information about the pilot is available in this summary document.
