The Instructor Concerns tool is a digital tool available in Brightspace used to record concerns that are subsequently delegated to the Office of Student Support team. Faculty who are unable to connect with a student and have concerns about their academic status are able to refer students to their Advisors for help dropping a course, going on an LOA, etc., by using the Instructor Concern feature in the Brightspace classroom.
If a Faculty member senses that a student is at risk of harm to themselves or others and believes some immediate intervention is appropriate, they should use the PG Interdepartmental Referral Form. Review Appendix A of the Faculty Handbook for more information about student referrals. The referral form is linked in all Brightspace courses under the Help menu > Student Escalation Referral (pictured to the right).
The Student Assistance Program is a confidential third-party support and counseling service provided by Health Advocate that is available 24/7 and complimentary to all active Purdue University Global students and their dependents.
Information and resources for basic needs support, including emergency aid, are available through the Student Success Faculty and Staff Resources site.
The Academic Success Center is a learning center, study studio, and the hub of the Learning for Success Center, Writing Center, Math Center, Science Center, Business Center, Technology Center, and Technology Academic Software Support (TASS). Each center offers students free, individualized, interactive tutoring at specified times; please see live tutoring hours below. Highly trained, dedicated tutors offer course-specific and generalized learning assistance. Recorded webinars, video tutorials, and resources are also available. Our mission is to encourage and equip students for learning success.
Purdue Global is committed to providing opportunities for higher education to all students and to making the online programs, activities, and facilities at the University accessible to students with disabilities.
Faculty should use the Faculty and Non-SRM Users Referral Form whenever a student discloses a disability or seeks information about accommodations. The form is short, easy to complete, and ensures timely outreach by SAS. Once submitted, SAS will be notified directly and will follow up with the student via email, providing details about the accommodation request process.
