The Center for Teaching and Learning provides resources and support for academic chairs across the university. This page is regularly updated to include important updates and information, with links to frequently used sites and resources.
Timely updates about relevant news and information impacting faculty for academic chairs and managers.
The Report Center site has been updated. The intent of the center is to share reporting information with managers in a more timely and efficient manner. Access to data is limited to managers for each school/department. Current reporting provides a summary of professional development hours, anniversary dates, and resume tracking as of March 17, 2025.
Please direct access requests, error reporting, and questions to the CTL team at askctl@purdueglobal.edu. We welcome your feedback on the center.
The Rubric Data Report provides detailed information about how students are performing on specific aspects of their assignments and discussion boards. The current report shares data as of February 3, 2025.
The report includes the following information for each criterion on each grading rubric: Average Score, Standard Deviation, and Total Scores. To help identify trends over time, these data are presented separately for each term of each course. The data are organized by department and can be filtered as needed.
Course leads are strongly encouraged to review this report to identify where students are struggling and where scoring or student performance might be inconsistent.
If student accommodations include extended time for timed assessments, there are additional steps that must be taken to honor and be in compliance with a student’s approved accommodations. Please review the Student Accommodations Faculty Guide for details about accommodations for timed assessments.
With the recent changes to Purdue Global’s attendance policy, faculty must assign an alternative activity for any canceled seminar. Faculty cannot automatically grant points to a student for an assignment or seminar that was canceled or otherwise not completed by the student. Awarding unearned points can result in students receiving a failing grade when they should have been withdrawn from the course.
If a seminar is canceled, instructions on how to complete an alternative assignment will be posted in the classroom announcements and emailed to students. Students should reach out to their instructor with questions about the alternative assignment.
Effective August 23, 2023, Purdue Global made its final step to becoming a limited-attendance university. The mandatory 14/21 day attendance policies are no longer in effect.
Important considerations for faculty:
Students should still be encouraged to attend class and engage with their peers regularly and frequently.
Students who would have been previously dismissed for violating the 14/21 day attendance policies will no longer be withdrawn in the middle of the term.
Students who stop engaging with faculty during the term will be withdrawn, when appropriate, after grades are posted at the end of the term.
A student earning all W (withdrawal) marks will be administratively withdrawn from Purdue Global.
At their discretion, faculty should continue working with students experiencing extenuating life circumstances.
The late grading policy has not changed. Students who submit work past the weekly unit deadline are subject to the late grading policy.
Faculty should contact their academic chair with any questions about the attendance changes.
The chair academy program offers participants a transformative experience in leadership development and a realistic view of the Department Chair position. This program is meticulously structured to cultivate essential leadership skills and competencies. This program includes asynchronous reading/activities and synchronous meetings.
The Level 3 Checklist is a resource new chairs can work through with their school-assigned mentor(s). The Checklist is a guide and may not cover all the necessary topics. There may also be irrelevant topics on the Checklist based on the school. New chairs and mentors can move through the Checklist as they see fit.
Keep an eye out for the new cohort application in the Purdue Global NOW Newsletter. Applications will be sent to direct supervisors for approval. Cohort sizes are a maximum of 15 participants.
Live event recordings are available for professional development. Employees can view a session recording and complete the reflection form to earn PD credit for the activity. View the recording catalog for details.
The CTL provides asynchronous workshops that are self-paced and available to all Purdue Global employees. Visit Workshop Central for more information.
The CTL will be sending quarterly reminders to faculty with important information and updates. The reminders will highlight details shared in the Faculty Digest, an excellent resource for faculty that includes essential information and links for incomplete grades, grade changes, plagiarism and remediation, student code of conduct, and more. The email will be distributed quarterly. If you have questions, please contact askctl@purdueglobal.edu.
