Jojo On Live

Joelle “Jojo” Siwa is one of the most recognizable faces of this generation – whether it’s for good or bad reasons. After growing up on reality television and gaining fame from her time on Dance Moms and Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, Siwa became the person young girls looked to – whether it be for bow recommendations or silly dance trends. In 2021, Siwa officially came out as queer – which she later revised to clearly state she was a lesbian.
In April of ‘25, Jojo announced she’d be a contestant on the newest season of Celebrity Big Brother UK. This is a show where they gather a bunch of people in a house – isolated from the “real world”, unable to have any real contact with anyone from home, and their loved ones unable to contact them – as they compete in weekly competitions and vote off players they no longer wish to stay. Spoiler: Jojo won third.
Before rumors of being casted on the show, Jojo began dating her partner – Kath Ebbs – in December 2024. The two often posted Tik Tok videos with each other, and frequented Disney Land together. They seemed to be in a happy, healthy relationship even through filming where Siwa could send messages home.
In the house with Jojo was a contestant named Chris Hughes who is a 32 year old man – who frankly – I thought was queer himself upon first glance. By the first week, Jojo had multiple homophobic remarks made towards her, which Chris took an instant protective shield to and defended her. Mickey Rourke – the man who spewed them – made comments where he referred to her with the d-slur typically said about lesbians, and said that, “If I stay longer than four days, she won’t be gay anymore.” For Big Brother purposes, they broadcasted live streams after hours of filming and airing the show where people could pay to watch exclusive content of houseguests fighting, getting together, or scheming. On said lives, Jojo and Chris were often seen cuddling and giving each other massages with little to no clothes on. Although Jojo never explicitly cheated, at the wrap party where the cast celebrates the winner, the end of the show, and can see their family, she broke up with her partner. In Jojo’s words, her time in the house showed her that she didn’t know if her relationship was something she could see herself further pursuing. She said her eyes had been opened, and to top it off while she was in the house, Jojo announced on live “Eff the L” referring to her previously claimed label as “lesbian.”
Now, I’m not one to say that someone, especially at Jojo’s age, can’t take the time to explore their sexuality. However, when it’s done on national television, in the span of 18 days, while you are in a committed relationship and simultaneously telling your partner every week how you miss and love them, the line becomes a little blurred on where it crosses morality.
Side note, there was an instance in the house where Chris and Jojo were dressed in fully decked out catsuits and were seen peeing–yes urinating–in a litter box–by choice mind you–and covering each others…messes… while giggling. Not really important, but thought it was good to mention.
As a takeaway, if you wanna explore your sexuality, go for it! Nothing wrong with that at any age. But, maybe, if you are in a relationship and on live television, don’t take that opportunity. Not the time nor place.
